STENA TURNS WASTE INTO NEW RESOURCES
Recycling requires technology and know-how. At Stena we´re good at removing hazardous waste in products at the same time keeping the valuable materials in them. We can offer the highest recycling rate in the business. For example, through our facility in Sweden we separate plastics with and without brominated flame retardants, using new technology. This means great environmental benefits since a lot of plastic covers for radio, tv-sets and computers can now be reused.
Thanks to innovations within the glass field, we´ve even managed to recycle picture tube glass, which we converted to first rate raw materials for new displays. We’ve also collected more than 5,1 million refrigerators, this saves 8-9 million ton carbondioxin. In short, where others see hazardous waste, we see environment and valuable raw materials.
